Abstract: According to the Maduo M_s7.4 earthquake field survey in Qinghai Province on May 22, 2021, the characteristics of seismogenic structure, intensity distribution, and main damage characteristics of buildings and lifelines are analyzed.The casualties of this earthquake are compared with the 2010 Yushu M_s7.1 earthquake.The damage mechanism was discussed, and the experience and lessons from this earthquake were summarized.Enlightenment for the seismic fortification and earthquake disaster reduction of civil engineering infrastructure crossing faults or near faults is proposed.
