Abstract:
To study the effect of different loading rates on mechanical properties of basalt fiber-reinforced soil,0.25%,0.5%,and 0.75% basalt fiber were added into silty clay from the Tibetan Plateau, and unconsolidated undrained triaxial tests were carried out under different confining pressures and strain rates. Moreover, the influence of strain rate and the fiber content on the stress-strain relationship, failure strength and shear strength were discussed. The experimental results indicated that the strain rate effect was affected by soil viscosity and consolidation degree;the strain hardening property was found in the stress-strain relationship of fiber-reinforced soil under different conditions;the failure strength and shear strength didn’t increase monotonously with the increase of loading rate, but there were critical points;the higher the fiber content was,the more significant the effect of loading rate on the failure strength was.Based on the above analysis, the influence law of strain rate on the mechanical parameters of reinforced soil were obtained, which could provide technical reference for future engineering applications.
