Spatio-temporal Characteristics and Strategies of Coordinated Development of Man-land Urbanization

    • Based on the urban sprawl and compactness analysis, it discusses the spatio-temporal evolution and coupling characteristics of human-land urbanization in 137 districts and counties in Shandong Province from 2000 to 2020.The results show:(1) Before 2010,the average annual growth rates of the two were 2.24% and 7.76%,and 2.00% and 0.86% after 2010.The areas with higher level of man-land urbanization were mainly distributed in eastern Shandong and central Shandong.(2) The overall level of urban sprawl showed a downward trend, and only 0.73% of districts and counties were in the stage of high sprawl. Before 2010,the overall level of urban sprawl in western Shandong and southern Shandong remained at a high level, while after 2010,the urban sprawl in eastern Shandong and central Shandong remained at a high level.(3) In the past, the compactness of urban peripheral contour in Shandong was far less than 1,and the overall trend was in decline. The urban construction experienced a process from relatively compact to loose. The compactness level of Jinan, Zaozhuang and Dongying decreased, while that of Qingdao, Zibo and Weihai cities increased.Government departments should formulate differentiated regional development strategies, form multi-level and multi-center urbanization layout, and promote the coordinated development of human-land urbanization.
